Life As A Sore Thumb

The adventures & sometimes misadventures of a quarter-life crisis.

He will leave a mark

Today a man gave me a gift. Originally our relationship was professional, then it took a swift right turn to personal. Albeit short lived, I will miss our discussions about F. Scott Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Greek philosophers & others. You expanded my mind to want more than just the physical OR just the mental. He gave me a used book and said goodbye. So simple, yet so sweet.

“We’ve been friends since we were 13.”
“What’s the most fun you’ve ever had together?”
“Oh, we don’t know…”
“Well, what’s the hardest you’ve ever laughed together?”
“Now you listen here! I want you to write down these questions you’re asking us, pull them out when you’re 85 years old, and see if you can answer them yourself!”

I got a few of these people in my life. I intend to roll deep with them way into my crotchety 90s!

I like flaws and feel more comfortable around people who have them. I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.
